Topic: October - Domestic Violence Awareness Month Presentation by Cornerstone

October is nationally recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM).

Domestic violence is a complicated and complex social and relational issue without easy answers. MPA’s DE&I Committee and Litigation Sectional will host Cornerstone for a presentation* investigating the trauma of domestic violence and issues surrounding legal avenues for victims’ safety.

We will explore questions such as:

  • How frequently this exists?
  • What are the signs of someone being abused? How did I miss the signs?
  • Who is more likely to be a victim of abuse?
  • Why don’t they just leave?
  • What legal recourse do I have to protect myself or a loved one?

CORNERSTONE

Is a multi-service organization founded in 1983. We are dedicated to helping individuals experiencing domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking achieve safe, healthy, and stabilized lives for themselves and their children. We are also committed to ensuring that all victims of crime have crisis support and services available to address trauma and its consequences.

Cornerstone’s continuum of service helps to create communities where individuals and families are safe, and children thrive. We advocate, educate, and lead the way to social change.
