Join us at Gislason & Hunter for the May MPA Mankato Chapter meeting. Allan Bakke will be presenting about Sexual Exploitation: A Review of Minnesota's Safe Harbor Program

The Safe Harbor Program has increased awareness, understanding and identification of the commercial sexual exploitation of youth. In Minnesota, sexually exploited youth are not seen as criminals, but as victims in need of services. In 2014, Minnesota Safe Harbor Law went into effect.  This law helps to protect youth from being arrested or prosecuted for prostitution as well as serves other important functions to protect the sexually exploited youth in Minnesota.

Allan Bakke is the Southwest MN Safe Harbor Regional Navigator at Southwest Crisis Center.  Regional Navigators serve as the main points of contact for sexually exploited youth and concerned agencies throughout Minnesota. Navigators are responsible for connecting youth with services and serving as regional experts for communities. Youth, educators, service providers, law enforcement, and community members are encouraged to contact the navigator in your area if you are working with a young person who may be sexually exploited or to be connected with training to learn more about the sexual exploitation of youth.

CLE Credit is being applied for this session.
