Topic: The Basics of Survey Review - Getting the Picture

What are the ALTA/NSPS Standards? Review of the Minimum Standard Detail Requirements for ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys” are standards set forth by the American Land Title Association (ALTA®) and National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS), the legal successor organization to the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM), which define the required contents of an official “ALTA/NSPS survey."

Speaker: Mary Taylor

Mary Taylor is an attorney at Winthrop & Weinstine, where she assists the corporate group with the real estate aspects of corporate transactions; in company mergers or acquisitions, there are almost always real estate assets being acquired or sold, and the firm’s real estate group was so busy, the corporate group decided to hire their own dedicated attorney to assist them! Mary also works with many of the firm’s fast food franchisee clients in purchasing, selling and refinancing both fee and leasehold interests in fast food restaurants, as well as assisting a local client in the process of purchasing property and building Taco Bells in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and South Dakota.

Prior to joining Winthrop in 2015, Mary worked for 13 years at Lindquist & Vennum, assisting clients in the development of single family, townhome and condominium communities, as well as the development, sale and purchase of shopping centers and office buildings. Mary also has extensive experience in both retail and commercial leasing.

In the first phase of her career, Mary worked as a software lawyer, first in-house at Oracle Corporation in Redwood City, California from 1994 through 2002, and then for a Minnesota start-up, Nistevo Corporation, where she served as general counsel from 2002 through 2005.

She attended Boalt Hall – University of California at Berkeley, graduating with a J.D. in 1992, and she holds a B.A. from Drew University in English and Theater Arts.
