TOPIC: Cultivating a Culture of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity in the Paralegal Profession.

The legal profession remains one of the least diverse of any profession. How can we change that? Come for an overview on how we can create and maintain a culture that values everyone’s contributions and diverse perspectives in the legal profession.

Speaker: Nicole Van Walbeek

Nicole Van Walbeek is a Senior Corporate Governance Paralegal at Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America. As a paralegal for 11 years, her past paralegal experience includes criminal law, family law, contract law, and securities and investments law.

Nicole holds a BA in English from Metropolitan State University, a Master’s in Library and Information Science from St. Catherine University, an ABA-approved paralegal certificate from Hamline University, and is currently earning her Master’s in the Study of Law at Hamline University.

Nicole is currently the Director of Greater Minnesota Chapters for the Minnesota Paralegal Association. She is also a proud member of her company’s Pride Group, Networking-Engagement-Opportunities (NEO) group, Black Employee Leadership & Opportunity Networking group (BELONG) and Empowering Diversity in Distribution through Growth and Education (EDDGE) group.

Parking: Use the Armory Lot, located on Second Street NW, across the street from the Castle to the north. Parking spaces are numbered, and a pay station is located at the southeast corner of the lot.
