Topic: Medical Exams and Inquiries: Do’s and Don’ts for Employers

In this meeting, we’ll talk about the common questions that arise with employment-related medical inquiries and exams:  When may an employer require medical documentation or a medical exam?  What is considered a medical exam under the ADA (and MHRA)?  How can an employer respond when an employee refuses?  What recordkeeping and confidentiality responsibilities does an employer have with this information?  What other laws are involved?  These questions and more will be answered!

    Speaker: Jana O’Leary Sullivan 

    Jana O’Leary Sullivan has worked as a staff employment attorney for the League of Minnesota Cities since 2005 and currently serves as the assistant supervisor of the litigation department.  She represents city employers in litigation and agency proceedings, advises cities on employment matters, provides training to cities and other organizations (hopefully in a fun and engaging way!), and develops model policies and practices.
