Topic: Top Tips for Successfully e-Filing Documents and Using MNDES
This session will cover best practices when filing non-public documents and information, the MN Court Records Online (MCRO) application and the distinctions between remote (online) and public access, use of the MN Digital Exhibit System (MNDES) for evidentiary exhibits, the new default hearing formats, and resources for Minnesota Judicial Branch applications.
Speakers: Sean Lane, Sarah Novak, Esq., and Kayla Dube, Esq.
Sean Lane is a Court Operations Manager for Ramsey Family Court. He has been in his current position since September 2024.
Before being the Ramsey Family Court Manager, Sean was the Ramsey Family Court Operations Supervisor where he oversaw day-to-day operations of both electronic and paper filings, as well as oversight of the Expedited Process filings and calendars. He was also tasked with performance management as a supervisor.
Before being the Ramsey Family Court Supervisor, he was a Family Court Paralegal (2008-2014), working within the Ramsey County Family Court Self Help Service Center assisting Self Represented Litigants. He began working within the Judicial Branch in the year 2006 as a Senior Court Clerk within the Ramsey County Traffic Violations Bureau.
Sean began his professional career working for the Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer at MCF-Stillwater in the year 2000. He has been a State of Minnesota employee just shy of 25 years.
Sarah Novak is a Senior Attorney with the Legal Counsel Division at the State Court Administrator’s Office. Sarah has worked on multiple projects related to electronic access to court records and documents as the project owner and lead staff attorney, including Minnesota Court Records Online (MCRO) and Minnesota Government Access (MGA). She regularly advises on e-Filing and e-Service statewide, the electronic court record, document security, and family case processing. Sarah previously worked in private practice in Minnesota and Wisconsin, specializing in family law and related matters.
Kayla Dube is a senior attorney in the Legal Counsel Division of the State Court Administrator’s Office. The Legal Counsel Division provides legal advice and support to the Minnesota Judicial Branch judicial officers, court staff, committees, and workgroups statewide. Kayla primarily works in the areas of family, probate, and guardianship. Kayla also has experience working in private practice, primarily in the areas of probate, guardianship, and estate planning.
